Five Things About Laura
She's a wife and mother.
I met the man of my dreams at a college football game in October 2004 where he tried to hoist me onto a couch high on a platform. After that, I knew he was the man for me. We were married on June 18, 2005. Together we have two boys Donnie and Casey who are the light of my life.
She's a teacher.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Academic Studies from Sam Houston State University, which is a fancy way of saying that I have a degree to teach. I was a sixth grade reading/writing teacher for five years before heading off on a new adventure in seventh grade. I know, I'm a risk taker!
Her family loves to go camping.
I'm lucky that my parents took my siblings and I camping growing up. It was even better when I found out that my husband had grown up doing the same! Now we take our sons camping as much as possible and we just bought our first camper in April 2012. You will find that my characters go camping in every book I write.
She loved being sent to her room.
I know it sounds crazy, but when I was little, I loved being sent to my room. Let's just say my brother was bothering me, all I had to do was pick on him and I was sent to my room. Any "normal" child should be upset, right? Well, I was no ordinary child. When I was sent to my room I was able to read my books in peace and quiet. It didn't last long though, my mom walked in and caught me reading and I was grounded to the living room or kitchen where she could keep an eye on me and make sure I wasn't enjoying my punishment!
She has an obsession with Beauty and the Beast.
Yep, you read that right. I have an obsession with Beauty and the Beast. How obsessive? Let's just say that to this day I believe that the character Belle was based on me. Sounds silly huh? It's true. When trying on my senior prom dress I tried on a yellow ballgown and I was sold. Add a tiara and I was ready to go. My sister will no longer watch the Disney movie with me because I say every line word for word!
