Goodreads Blurb: It Starts With Food outlines a clear, balanced, sustainable plan to change the way you eat forever—and transform your life in unexpected ways. Your success story begins with "The Whole30," Dallas and Melissa Hartwig's powerful 30-day nutritional reset.
Over the last three years, their underground Whole30 program has quietly led tens of thousands of people to weight loss, improved quality of life and a healthier relationship with food—accompanied by stunning improvements in sleep, energy levels, mood and self-esteem. More significantly, devotees of their program have reported the "magical" elimination of hundreds of lifestyle-related diseases and conditions.
Now, Dallas and Melissa detail the theories behind the Whole30, summarizing the science in a
simple, accessible manner. It Starts With Food will show you how certain foods may be having negative effects on how you look, feel and live—in ways that you'd never associate with your diet. More importantly, they outline their life-long strategy for Eating Good Food in one clear and detailed action plan designed to help you create a healthy metabolism, heal your digestive
tract, calm systemic inflammation and put an end to unhealthy cravings, habits, and relationships with food.
Infused with their signature wit, tough love and common sense approach, It Starts With Food is based on the latest scientific research and real-life experience, and includes success stories, a shopping guide, a meal planning template, a 30-day meal plan with creative, delicious recipes, and much more.
Bookworm Review: I've been struggling with my weight since 2003, but it really got out of hand since 2009. My trainer suggested that I read this book...and I'm glad that I did!
First of all, wow...this book as a lot of information on why certain foods make you feel like crap. Honestly, my body feels like crap 90% of the time! And now I know why...because I can't expect good thing to come out if I don't put good things in.
I read the book in two days and I was in awe the whole time. I mean, the things they tell you isn't crazy or out there, it really does make sense. They write all of the "sciency" type stuff in a way that I understood it. I never felt like I was too dumb or too slow to get the gist of what they were saying. I also like how they point out why the food the say to eat is good for you. It may sound like you're limited to only a few things, but in reality, there are so many ways to cook veggies, fruit, and meat, that the possibilities are endless!!
I would recommend this book to anyone who is either struggling with their weight, or are crippled by things like Diabetes or Hypertension. I don't have either, knock on wood, and if I follow their simple guidelines, I know that I won't have to worry about it either.
I started the Whole30 diet plan they outline in the book today with my hubby!! I will post about the results after the 30 days are over!!
