Goodreads Blurb: Everyone has a lot to say about Alice Franklin, and it’s stopped mattering whether it’s true. The rumors started at a party when Alice supposedly had sex with two guys in one night. When school starts everyone almost forgets about Alice until one of those guys,
super-popular Brandon, dies in a car wreck that was allegedly all Alice’s fault. Now the only friend she has is a boy who may be the only other person who knows the truth, but is too afraid to admit it. Told from the perspectives of popular girl Elaine, football star Josh, former outcast Kelsie, and shy genius Kurt, we see how everyone has a motive to bring – and keep – Alice down.
Bookworm Review: I have to be honest...I picked this book up because I was stalking her agent Sarah and came across Jennifer's website. I was instantly intrigued by the premise of this book because I've been really into realistic fiction right now and to have a book about your MC from the viewpoints of other characters seemed exciting. I'm so glad I stumbled upon it!! I read it in a day and I couldn't put it down.
First, I loved the author's voice. It sounded like a teen and not like an adult who tried to sound like a teen. That's hard to do, and I think she did a great job of it. Second, I grew up in a small town in Texas where everyone knows everyone and there's nothing to do but have parties. I could totally relate to the characters and the setting. And three, I loved the ending.
I was very happy with the way it turned out.
Overall, I loved the book because it took me on an emotional ride where you actually cared about all of the characters, not just Alice. I would totally recommend this to some of the
troubled teens I know so that they can see that your life isn't over when rumors spread. You can get over it and move on. Don't give up!!
Also, Mathieu is from the same city I live in...Houston!! I love supporting local authors and I can't wait to see what else she puts out!!
